What is a title loan?

A title loan is a secured loan that uses your vehicle's title as collateral. You keep driving your car while the lender holds the title until the loan is repaid. Approval is based mostly on your vehicle's value and your ability to repay — not your credit score.

How much can I borrow against my car?

Most lenders offer between 25% and 50% of your vehicle's wholesale value — typically $500 to $25,000 or more. Newer vehicles with lower mileage qualify for larger amounts. Your income matters too, since lenders verify you can afford the payments.

Our form gives you a preliminary estimate in about 60 seconds, based on your vehicle and income.

Do I keep driving my car?

Yes. In nearly all cases you keep your car and drive it normally for the entire loan. The lender holds only the title, not the vehicle. Repossession only becomes possible if you default on the loan.

Can I get a title loan with bad credit?

Yes. Because the loan is secured by your vehicle, most lenders approve borrowers with poor credit or no credit history — your car does the qualifying. Checking your rate through us never affects your credit score.

How fast can I get the money?

Many borrowers receive funds the same business day or the next morning once the lender verifies their documents. Timing varies by lender and state.

What documents will I need?

Typically: your vehicle title (in your name), a government-issued photo ID, proof of income (paystub, bank statement, or benefits letter), proof of residence, and often proof of insurance. Exact requirements vary by lender and state.

Are title loans available in my state?

Title lending is regulated state by state — some states allow it broadly, some cap rates or amounts, and some prohibit it. We only match you with lenders licensed in your state, based on your ZIP code.

Is Title Loans For Less a lender?

No — we're a free marketplace. We connect you with licensed third-party lenders and make them compete for your loan, which helps lower your rate. Any offer, APR, and terms come directly from the lender you choose. Lenders pay us a referral fee, so the service is always free to you.

Does checking my rate affect my credit score?

No. Submitting our form does not affect your credit score. Some lenders may run a hard credit inquiry later, before finalizing your loan — and they'll tell you before that happens.

What happens if I can't repay?

If you default, the lender can charge additional fees and ultimately repossess your vehicle. Title loans are high-cost, short-term loans — borrow only what you need and make sure the payment fits your budget. If you're struggling with debt, free non-profit credit counseling is available at nfcc.org.
